KIM’S ANTIQUES - EXTERIOR
[Rory enters the yard and calls out to Lane as she takes off the back pack.]
RORY: Lane.
LANE: Rory, aw your back.
[They hug]
RORY: You’re here.
LANE: I know where else would I be.
RORY: I don’t know, summers a scary time at the Kim house, lots of shipping people off to Korea.
LANE: Not this year, we have to get ready for college. Seven Day Advantage college that I’m gonna go to. For four whole years while I live at home. With my mother, it’s gonna be very exciting. Am I smiling?
RORY: No exactly.
LANE: Yeah well at least I learn how to not burst into tears.
RORY: Okay let’s talk about something else, how is Dave doing?
LANE: Gone, you’re not very good at this cheering up thing.
RORY: Off to college already.
LANE: He left last week, but we’re gonna try the long distance romance thing, you know he’s gonna be home at Thanksgiving and Christmas plus we’re working on a plan to get me out California.
RORY: Really.
LANE: Yes it’s complicated, NATO was involved.
RORY: Oh. Well so fill me in, what’s been going on in the States, I feel so cut off.
LANE: Okay well I suppose you heard Liz Fare.
RORY: She’s gone Avril on us.
LANE: The Matrix got her.
RORY: Those guy’s are like the wreath, out to destroy all good music.
LANE: It’s awful.
RORY: Yeah what her selling out.
LANE: And her album, it’s awful.
RORY: See I never thought this would happen, I feel so sad and lost, this must be what being an adult must be like.
MRS KIM: Lane put this with the rocking chair. Rory you came back.
RORY: Yes nice to see you again Mrs Kim. Um looks like you’ve got a great sale here. You have some very nice pieces. [Mrs Kim sees the button Rory is wearing] And um I like the set up, out doors, it’s in nature, very bio friendly. [Lane prompts Rory about the button] Oh, haha, no this isn’t mine. I mean the button is mine but the baby’s not mine. It’s Jackson’s and Sookie’s. it’s Jackson’s and Sookie’s baby I just have this button, I mean Jackson gave this to me ‘cause he wants to be like Ricky Ricardo and Dick Van Dyke and…My mom touched the Pope, haha.
